David Tossman’s Crossword Webskite
How to Cook Little Fish (3)
Charming and challenging, these puzzles offer perfect entertainment and valuable mental exercise. Ask any cryptic crossword enthusiast.
The catch? As a novice you have to know how to interpret those nonsensical looking clues. It's not nearly as hard as it first appears and if you have any interest at all in cracking the cryptic this is the perfect place to begin: every clue here is explained in detail, in plain language (towards the back of the book so the temptation to "save time" is reduced).
This book also offers a brief introduction to cryptics for the complete novice. More experienced solvers will also find the explanations of value as they reveal the inner logic of those clues you have solved with some confidence but which still defy complete analysis.
Though previously published, all the clues here have been rechecked and many have been revised and improved. Even regular solvers of Listener crosswords will find renewed value and entertainment in this collection.
